Album Covers by Comic/Cartoon artists

This one was a no brainer combining two great loves - music and comic art.
This of course is just a small sample and hopefully I'll build on it in the future.


Robert Crumb’s iconic cover for the Big Brother Holding Company featuring Janis Joplin. Between 1974 and 1984, Crumb drew at least 17 album covers for Yazoo Records/Blue Goose Records, including those of his own band the Cheap Suit Serenaders. Robert Crumb has a passion for drawing covers for classic compilations

Barry Windsor-Smith popular British artist made famous for his artwork on Conan comics.












 Dave Gibbons artist and co creator with Alan Moore of the Watchmen This cover is for 90s British pop band Kula Shaker. He was also responsible for the Jethro Tull album and cartoon strip explaining the story for :Too Old to Rock n Roll, Too Old to Die!” with Michael Farrel.








 Todd McFarlane creator of Spawn, Image Comics and McFarlane toys. Responsible for covers for Lizzy Borden, Korn and Disturbed.



Don Martin, legendary Mad Magazine artist was a sort after artist for jazz albums and was responsible for this one by Miles Davis.


 Jack Davis another Mad Magazine stalwart made a healthy living doing magazine and album covers all his life. These three are from Johnny Cash , Candian band the Guess Who and the 70s pop band the Cowsills.



 Neil Adams a freelancer for both DC and Marvel famous for drawing Batman and Green Lantern was 28 when he was commissioned to do this cover for massively under reated and once backing band for John Lee Hooker The Groundhogs.



 Simon Beasley popular British artist who started at 2000AD and hits great heights drawing Slain. This is one three covers he did for Heavy metal madman Danzig.



 John Byrne an Canadian American arist influenced by Jack Kirby and Neil Adams who worked for both Marvel and DC was not asked permission for the artwork on Joe Satriani’s Surfing with the Alien.




 Mort Drucker the contributor of nearly every issue of Mad Magazine in his 56years of working there. He is a legend in caricature circles.
The Bears and Anthrax are two bands at different end of the musical landscape.
